Sadly, dementia is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide and is the only one we cannot prevent or cure.
There are over 90,000 people in Scotland living with dementia and this figure is set to double in a generation.
That’s why Alzheimer Scotland is working hard to build strong lasting relationships with individuals, businesses in local communities across Scotland.
Our 2017 charity partner, empower them to support people with dementia to live full and supported lives in their own communities, close to the ones they love, for longer.
Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s leading dementia charity. We offer personalised support, care services, community activities, information and advice at every stage of the dementia journey.
As the number of people living with dementia in Scotland continues to rise, McCreas believe that nobody has to face dementia alone.
They achieve this through a wide range of services; from NHS Dementia Nurses and Dementia Research Centre to our 24-hour Freephone Dementia Helpline and our network of resource centres across Scotland.
Alzheimer Scotland also have specialist Dementia Advisors throughout Scotland who act as a vital lifeline to hundreds of families by offering face-to-face care, information and emotional support to people living with dementia, their families and carers.
Dementia Advisors also organise various activities designed to improve wellbeing and confidence including Dementia Café’s, allotment projects, singing groups and sport reminiscence networks.
Working together, we can make a difference to thousands of families on their journey with dementia ensuring nobody in Scotland faces that journey alone.
