The Scottish Seniors Golfing Society
Formed in November 2006, the Scottish Seniors Golfing Society is the brainchild of former amateur internationalist, Gordon MacDonald.
It was formed to meet a significant demand for high level competition for senior amateur golfers still keen to test their games at a high level.
SSGS now runs a programme of events for players aged 50 and over with handicaps of 9.4 or less and run 36 hole events played on Thursdays and Fridays.
The organisation has surpassed expectations in terms of what it has achieved since 2006, particularly at a time when golf is struggling to maintain levels of active participation. The standard of golf is high with many former Walker Cup and Scottish Internationalists involved.
All the events take place in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere on very good courses. McCreas look forward to developing their sponsorship further with the SSGS membership and maybe even getting out on the course from time to time!
