We are delighted to welcome our latest recruit, Graeme Melrose, to the advisory team at McCreas. Graeme will be working together with our team of advisers, paraplanners and support team providing financial planning advice and assistance to McCreas clients.
Graeme, how did you learn about McCreas?
I had been looking for something new and contacted a recruitment consultant with an idea of what I was looking for. She gave me a few options but after discussions, we both agreed McCreas would be the best fit. A phone call was set up with the Managing Director, Douglas, which led to a meeting the following week and the rest, as they say......
Life before McCreas?
I have worked as a Financial Adviser for 11 years; first working for a big insurer as an adviser for four years, and then moving into an advisory role through AXA Wealth at the Clydesdale bank for two years. Most recently working at The National Farmers Union (NFU) as an adviser for five years. For the last two years, I have been working towards my Chartered Status and hope to complete this in the next 12-18 months.
I have really enjoyed it so far. Everyone has been very welcoming, and it is clear it is a very busy and vibrant office which suits me down to the ground.
What are you most looking forward to getting 'stuck into'?
This is a new challenge for me. In my previous roles, I have always worked with national companies and I’m really looking forward to providing the personalised service that McCreas are well known for. Also, working with the team in the office who, as I said, have all been very welcoming.
Outside the office?
A little cliched I know but I am a big football fan and enjoy keeping active and fit. Where possible I like to get up North and bag some Munros. The Highlands of Scotland have so much to offer with Glencoe being my favourite walking destination. Aonach Eagach in the summer topped them all.
Glasgow Warriors are now a team I follow on social media in the vague hope that I eventually become as knowledgeable about rugby as I am about football given the company association with the club!
I love my Malt Whisky and my wife Gemma really wishes I wouldn't take up so much room with my collection.
