Graeme is an Independent Financial Adviser at McCreas, working alonside our team of paraplanners and administrators, providing financial planning advice and assistance to McCreas clients.
My day-to-day life at McCreas
My days are generally filled with looking after the existing clients at McCreas and meeting new clients who are seeking advice, sometimes for the first time. A large part of the day also involves working closely with a great team to ensure we are providing a fantastic service and experience to all clients.
Life before McCreas?
I have worked as a Financial Adviser for around 12 years; firstly working for a big insurer as an adviser for four years, and then moving into an advisory role through AXA Wealth at the Clydesdale bank for two years. I worked as an adviser at The National Farmers Union (NFU) for five years. I have been working towards my Chartered Status and hope to complete this in the next 12 months.
Favourite thing about working for McCreas?
I like the challenge of meeting lots of new clients who have different and sometimes very complex needs. Taking them on a journey from an intial meeting to fully reviewing their financial arrangements and implementing a robust plan to help them achieve their goals
What's the most important thing for you when it comes to clients?
Building trust. The service we provide puts clients at ease and means they are safe in the knowledge they are being looked after in a professional manner but with that personal touch as well.
What are you most proud of about McCreas?
The service we provide is second to none and it is no surprise that a majority of the new clients I meet have been referred by existing clients. This highlights that we are providing a service people have real trust in and are confident in referring friends, family and colleagues.
Outside the office?
A little cliched I know but I am a big football fan and enjoy keeping active and fit. Where possible I like to get up North and bag some Munros. The Highlands of Scotland have so much to offer with Glencoe being my favourite walking destination. Aonach Eagach in the summer topped them all.
Glasgow Warriors are now a team I follow on social media in the vague hope that I eventually become as knowledgeable about rugby as I am about football, given the company association with the club!
I love my Malt Whisky and my wife Gemma really wishes I wouldn't take up so much room with my collection.
