Grant, how did you learn about McCreas?
Through discussion with a recruitment consultant who had positive things to say about the firm including the great team ethic and the positive working environment. He indicated that McCreas is a very busy firm with an excellent client base who have, in many cases, been with the firm for many years.
Life before McCreas?
I started work with RBS in 1986 and after working in branch banking for a number of years I joined the trainee Financial Adviser scheme in 1994. In 2001 I moved to Corporate and Commercial Banking before returning to RBS Private Banking as an Investment Adviser in 2004. Since leaving RBS in 2012 I have worked with Policy Services & Virtue Money for 7 years as an Independent Financial Adviser, ahead of joining McCreas.
The office seems a welcoming and vibrant place with people working towards helping our clients achieve their financial goals
What are you most looking forward to getting 'stuck into'?
I’m looking forward to meeting with both existing and potential new clients at McCreas to assist them with their financial plans. In addition I want to build on my existing knowledge and qualify as Chartered Financial Planner. I am currently one exam away from this goal.
Outside the office?
I enjoy cycling, watching football, playing golf when time allows and DIY.
I love driving and have passed my Advanced Driving test and the HGV driving test some years ago, which really changed the way you look at situations when out on the road – even more so now as I cycle a lot. In 2019 I was part of a team of 41 Club members who cycled round the coastline of Wales a route called “The Dragons Spine” (around 400 miles) and we managed to raise around £22,000 in aid of Alzheimers Scotland.
