Contract News for Thistle

Dumbuya wins McCreas award and signs contract extension!

Mustapha Dumbuya has been named McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for November.

Thistle player Mustapha has been a revelation in the right back slot since joining the club at the start of September and November was another month of impressive performances. Combining with both David Amoo and Robbie Muirhead on the right hand side of the park, he has used his ample pace to supporter the wingers and can claim an assist in Ryan Stevenson's last gasp winner against Inverness at Firhill.

Mustapha becomes the first player to win more than one McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month awards in a single season since Kallum Higginbotham won consecutive awards at the end of 2013/14.

And there is more good news about the Sierra Leonean defender, after Mustrapha penned a two year extension on his contract, keeping him at Firhill until the summer of 2018. The 28 year old joined Thistle in early September, having featured as a trialist in a Development League fixture and has gone on to make the right back berth his own. His energetic performances have won him many plaudits from fans and pundits alike, and Alan Archibald was keen to tie the defender down to a long term deal. Mustapha is just one appearance behind equalling the record number of league appearances made by a Sierra Leonean in Scottish Football, which is currently held by former Celtic player Mo Bangura.
