Dobie voted McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for April

Jamie Dobie has been named as the McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for April, after a series of impressive displays across the Glasgow Warriors back division.

The Scotland international claimed 40% of the vote from the Warrior Nation to take home the prize, beating Alex Samuel – with 19% - into second place in the online poll.

Featuring in all four fixtures across April, Dobie’s versatility once again made him a key asset to Franco Smith’s side, impressing both at scrum-half and on the wing in both the BKT United Rugby Championship and Investec Champions Cup.

An impressive performance against Leicester Tigers saw him repeatedly get the better of the Leicester back-three in the aerial contest, as well as showcasing his skills with ball in hand.

Dobie then scored with his first touch of the ball against the Vodacom Bulls, collecting McDowall’s wide pass just moments after coming off the bench to race over in front of the East Stand for the try.

Speaking after receiving the award, Dobie told glasgowwarriors.org: “I’m delighted – I’m a bit surprised to be honest!

“It’s always great to get the recognition of the supporters, especially at this point in the season. I’ve enjoyed getting as many minutes during the last few weeks as possible, and the award is a really nice bonus.

“There have undoubtedly been a few challenges in the last few weeks, and we know we haven’t performed at the levels we demand of ourselves. We’ve been through situations like this before, though – you look back to last season and we had a couple of similar performances towards the back end of the regular season.

“We were able to quickly right those things ahead of the playoffs, so our focus is on turning the page from the last few games, trusting the strong systems we’ve got in place and the quality of players we have here, and taking the chance to play in some massive matches between now and the end of the season.”

As part of the award, Dobie also receives a donation to a charity of his choice courtesy of McCrea Financial Services, with the scrum-half electing to support Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

“We’ve obviously done a lot of work with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity over the last few seasons, especially around the Plaster It Purple matches,” said Dobie.

“The effort the team at the hospital does is brought home every time we visit the patients and families at Christmas, or when they come to Scotstoun to deliver a match ball on a game day – you can see how much the partnership means and the difference we can make, and it’s a cause close to a lot of our hearts.”
