The SSE Hydro has made a huge impact on Glasgow since it opened on 30^th September 2013, with Rod Stewart performing.  Since then, alongside some of the biggest artists in the world such as Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber, it has also played host to the Commonwealth Games, Mobo Awards and Sports Personality of the Year.  Incredibly the economic impact of the Hydro averages £485m per annum, supporting 9,300 jobs in Glasgow. 

It was wonderful therefore to have the opportunity to create a client event with a difference this week.  Together with the team at the SEC Hydro Club, we arranged a bespoke behind-the-scenes tour of the venue, the very first one of its kind!

McCrea Financial Services guests enjoyed a VIP welcome on arrival and were escorted up to the stylish Capital FM Star Suite.  Here they enjoyed some excellent hospitality and a chance to network before embarking on a tour which provided some real insight into the venue.

The tour focused on the hospitality areas of the Hydro giving our guests a sense of the customer experience, showcasing the star suite, the luxurious private boxes on offer, the flawless Hydro Club restaurant and some of the exclusive and creative opportunities they’ve put together for sponsors.  It gave our clients a real sense of what it’s like to watch a performance from the best seats in the house!

What we all wanted to see of course, was what the performers see, what it’s like backstage at this incredible venue.  With a walk-through of the various dressing rooms and the green room, the acoustic wall and trying to spot who had played there on the Kinetic panel wall, it did exactly that. There was nothing better though than the final reminder as they exited the stage door to perform to the ‘best fans in the world’.   It really was an experience any music fan would love.
