Partick Thistle January 2024 Player of the Month Nominees Revealed!

January had a bit of everything for Partick Thistle with important home fixtures, tough away trips and some cup action thrown in for good measure. Kris Doolan’s side have come out the other end in good shape having won three and drawn two in five games over the course of the month leaving the team in 3rd place with a Scottish Cup fifth round tie to look forward to.

As the team looks forward, it’s time for the red and yellow army to have a brief look back to decide who deserves the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award for January from the following candidates:

Tomi Adeloye

Thistle’s Mr. Efficient played a key role for the Jags last month, scoring a goal for every 63 minutes he played. The Englishman bagged a double in the team’s 4-0 win over Arbroath – his first Firhill goals – before then grabbing a vital equaliser against Airdrieonians as he deputised for Brian Graham who was unwell. In between those two appearances on the scoresheet, he also played an important part in Ricco Diack’s leveller at Cappielow which secured an important point on the road for the Maryhill men.

Aidan Fitzpatrick

Nominated for the third month on the spin, Aidan Fitzpatrick has been enjoying a rich vein of form over the winter period. Against Queen’s Park, the winger set up the team’s first goal of the New Year before scoring our second with a beautifully controlled volley on his left foot. He would score again in the following game to make it 2-0 against Arbroath and then also set up the opener at Dignwall in the team’s Scottish Cup triumph over Ross County.

Aaron Muirhead

Another key contributor to Thistle’s two January clean sheets, Aaron Muirhead also showed his creative side last month as he set up Brian Graham’s opener against Arbroath. Perhaps his most important contributions though came in our pair of 1-1 draws with the Thistle box coming under significant pressure for spells in both games. Muirhead led the defence in repelling the Morton and Airdrie assaults to ensure we went back to Firhill with something to show for our trips.

Scott Robinson

After making his return from injury at the start of December, Scott Robinson really found his rhythm during the month of January. Initially making an impact off the bench, he got an assist in consecutive games against Arbroath at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill and against Morton at Cappielow. Those set-ups earned him a starting spot for the trip north to face Ross County and the former Hearts man produced an outstanding first half performance dummying an Aidan Fitzpatrick cross to help create the first before firing home the second himself after Kerr McInroy’s shot had been saved by George Wickens.
