Our team is headed by Douglas McCrea, who founded the business in April 1999, when after many years working for leading financial institutions recognised the need for a comprehensive, yet personal service encompassing all aspects of Financial Planning.
He has always believed that we work in a "people business" where looking after people is paramount and the advice we give to clients should be the best we can provide.
My day-to-day life at McCreas
Each day is different which is fantastic and really interesting but with a few constant factors - 1 Very busy, 2 - Very long days. The days fly by with client and staff meetings, planning not only with regards to the clients' affairs but also continually reviewing and addressing the systems and how the office runs. We started with four staff, we now have 25!
What drives you to do the work that you do?
I really enjoy the buzz of the office and love what I do. The most rewarding thing for me is when people appreciate what we do for them and seeing how much we can help.
What is the most important thing for you when it comes to clients?
That they know we will look after them and add real value to their lives, (As well as being good to deal with).
What are you most proud of about McCreas?
The culture we have created whereby everyone pulls in the same direction to look after our clients in a friendly and professional manner. The testimonials we receive are all about the people, not the products.
Outside the office
Douglas has been an Independent Financial Adviser since 1991 and has many clients he has been dealing with since the 1990's. Like most self-employed people, he tends to be continually on the go! Douglas has been on the advisory board at Glasgow Warriors since 2008 and is a regular supporter home and away at their games. He also has the Partick Thistle affliction!
