Graeme Melrose

Graeme is a Chartered Financial Planner at McCrea, working alongside our team of paraplanners and administrators, providing financial planning advice and assistance to McCrea clients.

My Day to Day Life at McCrea

My days are generally filled with looking after the existing clients at McCrea and meeting new clients who are seeking advice, sometimes for the first time. A large part of the day also involves working closely with a great team to ensure we are providing a fantastic service and experience to all clients.

Life Before McCrea

I worked as a financial adviser for 12 years before joining McCrea; firstly working for a big insurer as an adviser for four years, and then moving into an advisory role through AXA Wealth at the Clydesdale bank for two years. I worked as an adviser at The National Farmers Union (NFU) for five years. I have been working towards my Chartered Status and hope to complete this in the next 12 months, and am now well into my 4th year at McCrea.

Favourite Thing About Working for McCrea?

I like the challenge of meeting lots of new clients who have different and sometimes very complex needs. Taking them on a journey from an initial meeting to fully reviewing their financial arrangements and implementing a robust plan to help them achieve their goals

What's The Most Important Thing For You When it Comes to Clients?

Building trust. The service we provide puts clients at ease and means they are safe in the knowledge they are being looked after in a professional manner but with that personal touch as well.

What Are You Most Proud of About McCrea?

The service we provide is second to none and it is no surprise that a majority of the new clients I meet have been referred by existing clients. This highlights that we are providing a service people have real trust in and are confident in referring friends, family and colleagues.

Outside the Office?

Outside of work most of my time (and energy!) is taken up by my 4 year old son Ben. I am a regular soft play visitor!  I try to get to the football regularly and keep myself active with running, going to the gym and bagging munros in the summer. I enjoy family holidays with Ben and my wife Gemma, and when I get the chance, I do enjoy a good malt whiskey!

Fun Fact?

Glasgow Warriors are now a team I follow on social media in the vague hope that I eventually become as knowledgeable about rugby as I am about football, given the company association with the club!

I love my Malt Whisky and my wife Gemma really wishes I wouldn't take up so much room with my collection.
