It's Time to Consider your November Warrior of the Month!

November was a good month for the Warriors, with two wins from two to continue their unbeaten run in the Guinness PRO14, with maximum points picked up in the process.

At home against Leinster at the beginning of the month it was a high-scoring first-half and a strong defensive display in the second forty-minutes which saw the Warriors win 31-21.  The game, however, will no doubt be remembered for Niko Matawalu’s stunning assist for Nick Grigg, with the Fijian running the full length of the pitch before passing to the Scotland international metres from the Leinster line!

Last weekend the Warriors were in Wales for only their second game of the month due to the international break. Dave Rennie’s men ran in seven tries to leave with a 47-6 win to cement their place at the top of Conference A.

McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month nominations for November:

George Horne

What a month it was for the young scrum-half! George made only his second start for Glasgow in the win over Leinster, after making his first start against the Southern Kings the week before. He has scored two tries against Leinster and then another brace in Sunday’s win over the Ospreys to make him Glasgow’s top try scorer with five tries.

Sam Johnson

The Australia-born centre has had another good month, starting both games against Leinster and Ospreys. The 24-year-old has been influential in both attack and defence in the Warriors midfield and has built up a solid partnership with Nick Grigg.

Niko Matawalu

The Fijian winger started the game against Leinster and made a huge impact. In a Man of the Match performance he helped create tries for George Horne and two for Nick Grigg, which included a length-of-the-pitch break which led to one of Grigg’s scores.

George Turner

It was a special month for the hooker, who is on loan from Edinburgh. Turner made his Scotland debut against Samoa but also played a big part in the two bonus-point wins for Glasgow. He started the match against Leinster and came on for Pat MacArthur after just two minutes in the seven-try blitz in Swansea on Sunday, scoring an intercept try from inside his own half against Steve Tandy’s side.
