Lawless Wins Back-to-Back Player of the Month Awards!

It’s back to back McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month awards for Steven Lawless, as the Thistle number eleven won the public vote for a second consecutive month.

During a calendar month that saw Thistle play only three times, Lawless continued his good form into September with his standout moments undoubtedly coming in the Cove Rangers game at Firhill. Firstly, he rifled in a sensational opening goal in front of the John Lambie Stand before then setting up Stuart Bannigan for his second half strike.

These talismanic moments were what proved decisive in the vote by the red and yellow army with the award being made ahead of our home match against Greenock Morton last Saturday. McCrea Financial Services competition winner Andy Wilson, accompanied by his nephew Paul Glancey, made the presentation pitchside before Saturday’s game.

After receiving the award, Steven said:

“It was a quick month with only two league games played in September but we’re pleased that we managed to pick up four points which took us to the top of the league.

“For myself personally, it was good to play a big part in both games scoring against Cove and also setting one up on a plate for Bannigan. During my first spell at the club I picked up one of these awards once every couple of seasons so to get two in a row is nice, but there were a number of players who could have picked up this award. Hopefully we can keep our form up over the next few months so that every award is hotly contested throughout the dressing room.”
