Race night has our charity fundraising galloping ahead

We announced a week or so ago, that our nominated charity for this year is the British Heart Foundation in Scotland and were delighted to get fund-raising properly underway with our annual charity race night.

As in recent years, we worked with Hillhead sports club, home of Hillhead Jordanhill Rugby to host the event which, this year, was our 10th successive race night event!

As well as a large contingent of people buying tickets for the night to enjoy the entertainment, a curry and a few pints while betting on the horses, we also have a number of other people to thank for their generosity.

Our eight race sponsors this year were Lawlor Builders, Lindsays, Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, Sim & Son Funeral DirectorsBlaney Carnan Solicitors, Electrify Marketing and Communications, Just Employment Law and Dallas McMillan and a large number of individuals bought the horses which just left a range of raffle prizes ahead of the night to organise.

Our thanks goes to the Radisson Blu in Edinburgh, The SSE Hydro, Woodhill Dental Care, and Cafe Source Too amongst others who all contributed to this.

Finally our auction race attracted bids from Cockburn & Co Solicitors, Dallas McMillan, Just Employment Law, Graeme Middleton, Lesley-Anne Mitchell, Shepherd, McAllisters Accountants and Lindsays and raised almost £3,000.   For the race, 50% of the money raised goes to the charity and 50% goes to the owners of the winning horse.  The winner, Alistair Cockburn, donated back the winnings to the charity!

Our three volunteers on the night from the charity were Laura, Jun and Lauren who all gave up their time to ensure the all important betting went well, a key contributor to both the enjoyment on the night for guests and for the fundraising too!  All takings less those paid out for winning bets are donated to the charity.

With all of those elements in mind, the grand total on the night was over £6,000, all of which has been donated to the British Heart Foundation.  If you couldn't make it along on the night but would like to donate to the charity, you can do so here !
