Ross Jackson awarded Hills Player of the Month Award for March!

We are delighted to announce that loose head prop forward, Ross Jackson, has been awarded the McCrea Financial Services Hills Player of the Month award for March; the penultimate award of the season!

“The throwaway line from any club Manager is that the best player is always the first name on the team sheet, and in Ross’s case, that is 100% correct“, said Hills 1st XV Team Manager, Kenny Campbell. “Using the SRU Scrums Team management system to generate team sheets, the name of the loose head prop is the first to be entered from the database, and Ross has commanded that role unopposed all season long. He has been dependable and durable in his scrummage duties throughout his career with Hills RFC, and this season he has expanded his game to become a dynamic all-rounder. Ross is more than worthy  of his POTM award for March 2023.’’

During March, Hillhead Jordanhill Men’s 1st XV have maintained their impressive run of form in 2023. They played 3 scheduled National League 3 fixtures, winning all three games; defeating Perthshire away by 41-7, Royal High at home by 53-13 and then Strathmore away by 20-13.

“While the results have been eye catching in respect of the team and its coaches, it’s the hard toil in the scrummage that Ross Jackson has contributed in terms of protecting his own ball that has made the difference in many games this season,’’ added Team Manager Kenny Campbell. ‘’In addition to his continuous high performance on the field, Ross is also one of the first on the training paddock every Tuesday and Thursday night, which sets the standard for the rest his teammates.

He is due to hang up his boots this April and I know he is absolutely delighted with this award as it is a fitting tribute and reward for his application and enthusiasm as a member of an Amateur Rugby Club.’’

Congratulations, Ross!
