Warrior of the Month for February Voting now Open

February was a difficult month for the Glasgow Warriors. With 17 players away on RBS 6 Nations duty, the squad faced off against three teams in the top six of the Guinness PRO12, all fighting for play-off spaces. The month kicked-off with Warriors hosting the Scarlets, followed by two away trips to Ulster and Ospreys.

Although the Warriors failed to pick up a win it was a great month for some players who excelled in the absence of the Internationals. Head coach Gregor Townsend has nominated four for the McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month award for February.

Brian Alainu'uese

The second-rower played an integral role for Glasgow over the month of February, starting in all three fixtures. Alainu'uese was a constant threat going forward, making hard yards on every carry. He was stellar against Ospreys, making 20 carries past the gain line.

Scott Cummings

It was a big month for Scott Cummings who returned from a long-term injury to play in all three fixtures, his first involvement in the 16/17 campaign. Cummings followed up his comeback game against the Scarlets with a two-try performance against Ulster in Belfast. He also put in an impressive 80 against Ospreys, meaning he played every minute of rugby available in the month of February.

Nick Grigg

Grigg started in the centre on all three of the Warriors February games, showing his versatility by playing at both 12 and 13. He was effective in both aspects of the game, with his dangerous solo runs only bettered by his tenacious tackling in defence.

Peter Murchie

Peter Murchie started two of the three games, missing Warriors’ trip to the Kingspan with a knock picked up against Scarlets. He was a major threat going forward in that game, creating many problems for the Welsh side. After battling back into the starting line-up for Ospreys, Murchie scored a try in the 26-15 defeat and was always dependable at full-back.
